What is Gigantei?

It is an open-air park where the legend of the Spirit of the Mountains meets nature education. The route leads through recreated places from the Karkonosze (Giant Mountains) — from eastern spots such as Okraj Pass, Skalny Stół and Sowia Pass to the western end of the range with the Kamieńczyk waterfall. Along the way children meet the guardians and the giant insects they have captured.

Which insects will you see?

  • An ant measuring 3 metres.
  • A 5-metre caterpillar of the mullein moth.
  • The Apollo butterfly, which died out in the Sudetes in the 19th century; since 2007 the Karkonosze National Park has been reintroducing it.
  • Other giant models of insects typical of the region.

Who is it for?

  • Families with children — there are family tickets for two adults with 1–4 children, and children under 3 pay a symbolic 1 PLN.
  • Organised groups — accepted daily by prior reservation, with a 10% discount for groups of 10 or more.
  • Adults who enjoy Karkonosze nature and local legends.

Is it a good idea on a rainy day?

It is an outdoor attraction, so it is best planned for a dry day.

How far is it from Karpacz?

According to the park’s website, the drive from Karpacz takes about 15 minutes, from Jelenia Góra about 10 minutes and from Szklarska Poręba about 5 minutes.
