Nad Łomniczką mountain hut — how to get there from Karpacz

The Nad Łomniczką mountain hut stands at 1002 m in the Łomniczka valley above Karpacz, inside Karkonosze National Park. After renovation it reopened on 27 March 2026 as a food-and-drink stop without overnight stays, and from Orlinek on ul. Olimpijska you can walk there on the red trail in about 1–1.5 hours (approx. 3 km).

Is the Nad Łomniczką hut open?

Yes — the hut officially reopened on 27 March 2026 after about seven years and a thorough renovation. It serves food and drinks; there are no beds for now. The building now has its own solar power and energy storage, and working toilets.

How long is the walk?

From Orlinek (by the former hotel and ski jump on ul. Olimpijska) it is about 1–1.5 hours on the red trail — roughly 3 km on a wide, gently rising forest road. The yellow trail from lower Karpacz is an alternative, but steeper.

Can you go with a child or a pushchair?

Yes — the red trail from Orlinek to the hut is a wide gravel forest road, repaired by the national park and described as suitable for children, seniors and pushchairs. It climbs all the way, though, so a baby carrier is often easier (several places in Karpacz rent them out — ask at your hotel). Above the hut the trail becomes steep and rocky.

Further up: Łomniczka waterfall and Mount Śnieżka

The hut is halfway along one of the routes to Mount Śnieżka. Above it the red trail enters the Kocioł Łomniczki cirque, passing the Łomniczka waterfall and the Symbolic Cemetery of Mountain Victims, then climbs steep stone steps to the Dom Śląski hut. When avalanche danger is announced, the park closes this section (from the hut to Dom Śląski) — usually from the first snow until late spring. The walk from Orlinek to the hut is not affected. Check kpn.gov.pl (opens in a new tab) for current notices.

Do you need a ticket?

Yes, a Karkonosze National Park ticket: 11 PLN standard or 5.50 PLN reduced for one day (as of September 2026), sold seasonally at the ORLINEK office on the red trail or online. See tickets and fees.

At the reopening the menu included classic hut dishes such as broth, pierogi, pork cutlet, pancakes, toasties, cakes, coffee and tea. We could not confirm opening hours, so take some food of your own.
