Wang Temple (Świątynia Wang) in Karpacz
Wang Temple (Świątynia Wang) is a 12th-century wooden church moved from Vang in Norway to Karpacz, standing at ul. Na Śnieżkę 8 in Upper Karpacz. From 15 April to 31 October it is open daily 9:00–18:00, and a standard ticket costs 16 PLN (as of September 2026).
What is Wang Temple?
It is a historic 12th-century wooden church that originally stood in Vang, Norway. Between 1841 and 1844 it was dismantled, transported and rebuilt in Karpacz. Today it is an active Lutheran (Evangelical-Augsburg) parish church and one of the most visited places in town.
How does a visit work?
- You visit on your own — there are no bookings for a specific time.
- On Sundays and most holidays a service is held at 10:00, and visiting starts at 11:30.
- Taking photos or filming inside costs an extra 5 PLN.
- Access to the churchyard only costs 2 PLN.
Can I get there with a pushchair?
The approach to the church is steep and cobbled, which makes a pushchair hard work. The area around the church itself is flat. With a small child a baby carrier is the better choice.
Wang Temple and Karkonosze National Park
A Karkonosze National Park ticket office stands next to the church, and the blue trail towards Polana, Samotnia and Mount Śnieżka starts here. You only need a park ticket (11 PLN standard, 5.50 PLN reduced per day, as of September 2026) if you continue onto the trail — the church visit itself only requires the church ticket.
