Kamieńczyk Waterfall — a trip from Karpacz to Szklarska Poręba
Kamieńczyk Waterfall (Wodospad Kamieńczyka) is a 27-metre, three-cascade waterfall in a rocky gorge in Szklarska Poręba, inside Karkonosze National Park — not in Karpacz but about 30 km away (around 40 minutes by car). Entry to the gorge costs 16 PLN, reduced 8 PLN, helmet included (as of September 2026), and since 16 June 2026 the trail section from the car park on road no. 3 to Rozdroże pod Kamieńczykiem has been closed until further notice.
Is the trail to Kamieńczyk Waterfall open?
Check before you leave Karpacz: since 16 June 2026 the red and black trail section from the car park on national road no. 3 to Rozdroże pod Kamieńczykiem has been closed until further notice. The closure was announced by the Szklarska Poręba Forest District (road modernisation) and published by the town on 11 June 2026. Detours — a pink one for families with pushchairs and people with reduced mobility, and a blue one — are shown only on the map attached to the notice. See the town’s tourist notice (opens in a new tab) (in Polish) for the current status.
How far is it from Karpacz?
The waterfall is in Szklarska Poręba, on the other side of the Karkonosze from Karpacz: about 30 km from central Karpacz to the car park on road no. 3, roughly 40 minutes by car. Treat it as a half-day trip and allow extra time for a possible detour.
What will you see?
The Kamieńczyk stream drops 27 metres in three cascades into a narrow rocky gorge at about 846 m above sea level. You walk through the gorge on footbridges and steps, wearing a helmet that comes with your ticket. The private Kamieńczyk mountain hut stands next to it.
Is a national park ticket enough?
No. The gorge has its own fee, which the regular Karkonosze National Park ticket does not cover — not even one bought in Karpacz the same day. On the park’s free-entry days (16 January, 24 May and 10 August) you still pay for Kamieńczyk.
Children, pushchairs and dogs
- Children who walk on their own will manage, but a pushchair will not — the path is rocky and the gorge has steps. Bring a baby carrier.
- Children under 7 enter free.
- Dogs are not allowed at Kamieńczyk Waterfall (national park rule).
On the same road no. 3 you will also find Szklarka Waterfall — a shorter walk covered by the regular park ticket.
